On
March 26, 2006, WIMARCS and Rhythm's at Rainbow sponsored the inaugural
"Shell-A-Bration" event. This event
was held to education the public about Sea Turtle issues while raising funds
to continue the valuable WIMARCS sea turtle programs.
The event was held at 'Rhythms at
Rainbow Beach" in Frederiksted, St. Croix. Behind live music,
laughter, and plenty of discussions, the 'Shell-A-Bration" had equipment
demonstrations, educational materials, t-shirts, posters, brochures, bumper
stickers, games, raffles, and plenty of prizes.
The turtle trivia game was hard fought
battle won my Stacy and John Capuro.
Local sea turtle biologists, including
WIMARCS staff and the V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources were
on hand to answer questions and give impromptu seminars!
