In order to conserve, protect, and better understand the
marine animals of the U.S. Virgin Islands, we have implemented, manage, and
operate the following programs:
- Local Community Conservation Program
- Sea Turtle Assistance and Rescue Network
- Sea Turtle Activity Reporting Program
The Local Community Conservation (LCC) Program was
designed to involve the public to determine marine animal activity data
around the USVI. Click here for additional information.
The Sea Turtle Assistance and Rescue Network (STAR)
is a network of volunteers from the community, veterinarians, non-government
organizations (NGO’s), and territorial and federal agencies, that is
coordinated and managed by WIMARCS. This network is designed to
respond to marine animals that are distressed and/or stranded.

The Sea Turtle Activity Reporting Program was
designed to utilize the public to assist in reporting marine animal activity.
Currently, we can only accept sea turtle reporting, but soon will include
marine mammals such as whales and dolphins.
